What is Piedmont For Consent?

P4C started in response to the @piedmontprotectors posts on Instagram during the summer of 2020. A group of passionate students wanted to make change out our school and in our community. For too long we've let the consent assembly be only the solution to all of our problems at Piedmont, but just the consent assembly alone is not enough. Neither is a few sex education lessons in 5th, 7th, and 10th grade. We need to create a community in which consent, assertive communication, and the 4 F's are taught and defined at an early age. Where we teach students the tools to set their own boundaries, and that they can set their own boundaries. We need to teach students about the dangers of online grooming and to be respectful to each other online and in person. We need to foster an environment where we destigmatize talking about these topics; where survivors feel comfortable to speak out. We aim to work to create a culture that eliminates sexual assault, harassment and rape.

It's time for change.
