Consent Workshops 2021

P4C organized a consent workshop for all four grades in February 2021. The P4C board and club, with the help of our teacher advisers, worked for months on a slideshow and script. We also used Pear Deck to turn the slideshow into an interactive workshop. We trained 35 student presenters over the course of about four weeks: hosting an initial training, pairing up individuals, assigning each pair to a mentor pair, having each pair present to their according mentor pair, and having weekly check-ins/ quick training meets all throughout. The workshop was hosted over the course of two days with a special schedule, with groupings using second period classes. We also hosted an according parent night. The workshop focused on these topics:

• Consent (what is it?)

• Communication (internal, external, assertive)

• The 4 F’s (fight, flight, freeze, fawn)

• Drugs & Alcohol

• Online consent & Nudes

• When someone tells you...

• If you report

• Long Lasting Effects of sexual assault on survivors & resources 

• How do we change the culture?

We hope to continue to host this workshop for years to come. As well as, are in the midst of working on a 4 workshop series idea for the high school (with this one being the freshman year one).
